Guthrie County State Bank recently recruited a local man home and added a new family of four to the community to enhance the structure of the lending team of the local and independently owned financial institution. Matt Pearey (Guthrie Center office) and Mark Cates (Panora office) joined the bank in September to add to the team of lenders. Some organizational shifts have also been announced on the lending team.
“Matt and Mark both bring extensive lending experience to our bank with the strong desire to live in communities that offers the quality of life found in Guthrie County,” said Mike Underwood, chief executive officer and president, Guthrie County State Bank. “With our expected growth and increasing regulatory requirements, we needed to make some organizational shifts. We have five full-time lenders and an experienced credit analyst which brings an even more comprehensive team to serve our customers.”
Matt was born and raised in Guthrie Center and attended Buena Vista University where he majored in sports management and minored in business administration while playing football for the Beavers. Since graduating he has worked at Wells Fargo Financial and then for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, most recently as a consumer loan underwriter. Matt is proud to call Guthrie Center home again and looks forward to becoming reconnected to the community.
Mark is a native of Ida Grove, IA, and graduated from Simpson College with double majors in business management and sports administration and also played football for the Simpson Storm. He brings progressive experience as a personal banker from Wells Fargo in several locations, most recently in La Crosse, WI. Now that they live in Panora, Mark, his wife, Jana, and two children are closer to family and looking forward to everything that comes with raising children in a small community.
