About Panora

Panora is located in eastern Guthrie County. Not only is it surrounded by the natural beauty of rivers, a lake and woodlands, but also golf courses, beaches, the Turn of the Century Museum, Nations Bridge Park and Springbrook State Park. The Community is served by a well trained ambulance team, 2 medical clinics, dentists, optometrist, the Guthrie County hospital and Life Flight.

Turn of the Century Museum
Located at the South edge of Panora. (641) 755-3061. The main building houses a library, animal species native to this area, a rock & gem collection, a general store with the original Safeside Post Office and many more items of interest from the time this area was settled.

Also included at the museum compound are a log cabin, the first home built in Panora in 1851, a Train Depot, Church, School, Implement Compound, and Blacksmith Shop.

Raccoon River Valley Trail - a beautiful recreational trail for bikers and walkers running from Waukee through Panora to Yale. The Panora trailhead is located behind "PJ's Eats & Treats".

Michael Mills Memorial Park - 300 East South Street Baseball/Softball, Playground equipment, Basketball, Shelterhouse.

Lennon Mills Park - 500 West South Street Picnic tables, Fishing, Camping, Shelterhouse, Trails, & Boat Ramp.

Old Waterworks Park - 501 West South Street Picnic tables, Playground Equipment, Fishing, & Primitive Camping.

Schools

Panorama Community School District - Home of the Panthers. The district includes these communities: Panora, Linden, Yale, Jamaica, & Bagley. The new Elementary building is open in Panora. Previously the K-5 grades were housed in Linden & Jamaica. The High School, Jr High building were also expanded. It is an excellent educational facility!

Panorama School is proud of its athletic programs & compound, including a 7 lane all-weather track with football field, home to the 1997 Class A State Track Champions, & new baseball & softball diamonds.
