Debit Cards

  • Debit cards make it easy to complete purchases without using cash, writing checks or charging to credit. It can be a replacement for checks at the point of sale leading to ease and convenience of using the card for everyday retail transactions.
  • Paying with a debit card won’t lead to interest charges because it draws money from your checking account.
  • Safeguarding your debit card number and PIN is just as important as protecting your credit card information.

A debit card looks and acts like a credit card, but it’s powered by your checking account. Your purchasing power is generally limited to your available account balance and the limits set on the card. With a swipe or a tap, you can make a purchase or complete bank account transactions, such as withdrawals, deposit and transfers at an ATM, and you can even use them for online orders. They’re a convenient way to spend money from your checking account without toting around your checkbook.
