Guthrie County State Bank is seeking a new team member for the position of full-time Universal Banker at our Panora location. Position Title: Universal Banker
Reports To: Vice President and Branch Manager

The position will be responsible for providing quality customer service and financial solutions to existing and potential customers in an effort to meet their needs. The individual will have a thorough understanding of the customer’s transaction requirements and be able to effectively communicate all available options to them.

Essential Functions, Typical Tasks and Performance Expectations

Function: Sales and Service

Responsibilities:

  • A thorough understanding of the bank products/services and tools including website, mobile banking, online bill pay, etc.
  • Evaluate the needs of potential customers and offer appropriate financial product and services.
  • Identify referral opportunities.
  • Expand existing client relationship through promoting and cross-selling other bank products and services as appropriate.
  • Process a variety of customer transactions accurately and efficiently in adherence to bank polices, such as cashing checks, processing deposits and withdrawals, loan payments, transfers and issuing monetary instruments.
  • Assist and educate customers with setup of online products, including internet banking and mobile banking.
  • Assist customers with completing a consumer loan application.
  • Answers and direct calls to appropriate staff as necessary.
  • Responds to customer inquiries and requests regarding their accounts.
  • Assist customer with debit card and ACH questions or disputes.

Performance Meets Satisfactory Expectations When:

  • Performance Plan goals are met within acceptable tolerances.
  • Feedback from customers and team members is positive.
  • Required training is completed and competency standards are met.
  • Policies and procedures are upheld with minor or no deviation as evidenced by managerial and audit review.

Function: Operations

Typical Tasks:

  • Balance vault cash, cash drawers and recycler. Research and resolve differences.
  • Maintain teller cash levels.
  • Order and sell foreign currency.
  • Redeem savings bonds.
  • Enter and update customer information to the core processing.
  • Perform duties such as opening/closing accounts, address and name changes, determination of NSF items.
  • Review new account checklist exceptions.

Performance Meets Satisfactory Expectations When:

  • Performance Plan goals are met within acceptable tolerances.
  • Unresolved cash differences are within tolerances.
  • Bookkeeping finds minimal errors, if any.
  • Policies and procedures are consistently followed as evidenced by supervisory and audit review.

Experience/Education/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 to 3 years’ experience in financial industry, bank operations and/or sales. Knowledge of bank accounting, operations and regulatory guidelines is helpful but not required.

  • SKILLS – Demonstrate personal integrity, proven customer service and interpersonal skills and proactive and effective selling, crossing selling and referral skills.
  • CO-WORKER RELATIONSHIPS – Must be able to cooperatively interact with co-workers so as to promote an effective, productive work unit. Promotes teamwork from one work unit to another.
  • PROFESSIONAL/ETHICAL CONDUCT – Must be able to conduct oneself in a professional manner that promotes trust in the individual and the organization, as well as be responsible for highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • TECHNOLOGY COMPENTENCY – Must be able to proficiently use the core operating system and the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word and Outlook as well as a basic comfort level with internet and internet-based solutions as well as smartphone operation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment. Extended periods of PC viewing and keyboarding required. Standing may be required for significant periods of time. Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
