Behind the Desk with Kate Brown, Operations Specialist, Guthrie Center Branch
Since joining Guthrie County State Bank in 2016, Kate Brown has been an allstar part of our operations team, keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. After years of commuting to Des Moines, she was ready to work closer to home—so when a friend encouraged her to apply at GCSB, she jumped at the opportunity. With over 25 years of experience in banking, Kate has worked in a variety of roles, from teller to project manager, eventually finding her way to her current position as an Operations Specialist with us.
A Passion for People and Teamwork
Kate is passionate about the strong sense of community at GCSB, especially when it comes to celebrating team achievements. As a member of the quarterly celebration planning committee, she helps organize fun events that bring employees together. “They are a lot of fun! I also get to work with some great people,” she shares.
Living the Dream in Guthrie County
Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with her grandsons, teaching a weight class at the GCH Fitness Center, and crafting homemade shower and bath products. She’s also a big fan of Whiterock Conservancy, calling it “the most beautiful and peaceful place in Guthrie County.” And when summer rolls around, you can often find her unwinding on her patio with a cold beer in hand.
