Spring into Kindness this May! #GCSBMayDay

May 1, 2024 | Featured, General News

Help spread smiles as we move into spring for the chance to win $500* toward a nonprofit or local business of your choice.

The GCSB May Day Promotion is back, which means it’s time for you to give back to your community – and we want to see! Give back this May by sharing your good deeds on social media.

Use the hashtag #GCSBMayDay on your good deed posts between May 1 – 24 for the chance to win $500 from GCSB to be donated to the Guthrie County small business or nonprofit of your choice. That’s a total of $5,000 we’ll be giving back to our beloved community! 10 winners will be drawn at the end of the month.

Why May Day?
The term “May Day” originates as the SOS of the seas – but this time of year, it’s often a welcoming of warmer weather, sunshine, and brighter days ahead. We can’t think of a better way to spring into the new season than by celebrating our community, showing support for local businesses, and spreading kindness with our charitable May Day giveaway.

How to Enter
It’s easy! Between May 1 – 24, snap a picture of yourself, your family or your friends doing a good deed and post it to Facebook or Instagram publicly, with the hashtag #GCSBMayDay. Feel free to also tag Guthrie County State Bank as we love seeing all those good deeds on our feed! If social media isn’t your thing, you can instead email your photos, descriptions, and nonprofit/business you’re nominating to gcsbank@gcsbank.com. On May 30, we will draw 10 winners randomly to each receive a $500 check toward the local business or nonprofit of their choosing.

Get Creative & Specific!
We love seeing the different ways our community members give back. Be sure to let us know what type of good deed you did in your post and the business or nonprofit you’d choose to donate $500 to.

For example:
“I gathered food bank donations today! If selected, I would donate $500 to XYZ local business. #GCSBMayDay”

There are many ways to show kindness! Volunteer at a food bank, clean up your local park, create care packages for those in need, buy coffee for a stranger, mow your neighbor’s lawn. Just remember: no act of kindness is too small.

The Nuts & Bolts
You’re welcome to enter our May Day Promotion multiple times — just be sure it’s a separate good deed and that you nominate a different nonprofit or business each time. See the full rules below for details. We’ll draw the winners on May 30. Submissions for the contest are only open to GCSB customers. However, the business or nonprofit you nominate does not need to be our customer.

We hope you’ll join in and help spread the kindness this spring! We are honored and excited to donate $5,000 to some much-deserving businesses and nonprofits in our community. If you have questions or want more details about the promotion, contact any GCSB team member, or check out our website, Facebook, and Instagram for updates.
